MichaelNovaksmThe World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships are coming to Weaverville and Trinity County October 3 – 4!

Trinity County is a mecca for mountain bikers with the Weaverville Basin Trail System offering an epic combination of single tracks. These community-managed trails follow the gold mining ditch lines as they traverse the mountain sides surrounding Weaverville, making for multiple easy access points from town. You won’t find a terrain park here, but there is plenty of technical single-track to keep you focused and in the zone. We’re proud to host the 2015 World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships on these very trails!

Countywide trails afford experiences for the novice and experienced biker. Some trails are moderately strenuous and the scenic vistas of Trinity Alps, Trinity Divide and Trinity Lake are worth the effort.

Trails in Trinity County extend beyond our communities into the wild backcountry of the Trinity Alps Wilderness. The 517,000-acre Trinity Alps Wilderness is the second largest designated wilderness in California and spans three national forest boundaries. Laced with trails, rivers, forests, and peaks, this is one wilderness where you can travel for weeks and never exhaust all the possible trails.

danviewsmallIf a waterway is more your style, there’s no shortage of water recreation activities.  Trinity Lake is known for its many small arms, glassy inlets, and great water-skiing conditions. Trinity boasts unparalleled water sports opportunity—from world-class trout and bass fishing, to miles of smooth blue water perfect for boating, skiing and boarding.

Accommodations range from lakeside cabin rentals, nearby RV parks and campgrounds, and nearly 147 miles of shoreline for camping and anchoring private and rental boats.

If you’re looking for a little more froth and excitement, the Trinity River might be just the ticket.  This Wild & Scenic River ranges from stretches of flat calm pools to raging rapids, as it carries water from the peaks of the Trinity Alps toward the Pacific Ocean.  For more details on rafting and kayaking companies and conditions, click here.

If you want to try your hand at fishing, Trinity County is an “Anglers Paradise” where you can fish all year-long in a temperate climate and a beautiful and pristine environment; where anglers have easy access to excellent fishing and yet do not feel crowded.  Click here for more information on fishing in the Trinity River, Trinity Lake and our myriad mountain streams.

With adventure around every turn, Trinity County, CA welcomes the 2015 World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships and we hope you will find the time to explore while you’re here.
